life drawing studio: Delicate & Expressive Lines

In this class we will work with both clear contours, inviting delicate lines, and with layering, which encourages expressive mark-making. First, you will be invited to focus entirely on the outline of the human body, engaging in an exercise without lifting the pencil from the paper. In the next step we will work in the exact opposite way. We will use plenty of expressive, vivid marks to create a chaotic drawing. You will be challenged to look away from your paper entirely while drawing, focusing on finding bold lines rather than a correct rendering of the human form.
